Project description

This project is about finding a new penpal and sharing our cultural identities and cultural values, in addition we aim to create opportunities for our students to make new friends who share English as a second language.

The aim of this project is to improve our students' English skills as writing, reading and expose them to use English in their daily lives.

The basic idea of this project is to bridge over students from different cultures in Europe.

As we are in the age of technology, ICT tools will be included in our project such as records,pictures, videos, powerpoint presentations, videocalls etc.

Aims:

The main aim of this project is to make students use their foreign language-English- as a way of communication with their European penpals.

Students will also discover that although they have different cultures, religions, languages, habits, life styles and believes, they can make friendly relationships with their European pals.

Work process

Pupils will send letters to their penpals with the aim of introducing themselves including their names, ages, countries, information about families etc.

After this project is approved the way of communication is determined either it will be by e-mail or classical letters by schools.

After first letters, the probable topics of letters can be like that:
-Introducing Yourself
-Talking about Family
-Introducing Countries
-Daily Routines
-Hobbies and Interests
-Traditional Foods and Beverages( sending recipes to each other)
-Traditional Children's Games
-Traditional Fairy Tales
-Touristic Places of Each Country
-Talking about Movies and Books(watching movies together..)
Some other topics can be included later.

Expected results:

We will show students how to use English as a way of communication in real life.

This feel of achievement makes them more motivated to English language and English classes.

Students will learn to respect differences and be kind to other cultures.

Finally, this project makes students open to new cultures and new opinions.
